Bike, mostly packed. Some clothes are packed into the case too.
Sunrise, Mt. St. Hood, and Mt. Adams(?) from the plane.
I found a cart, which was much easier on my back and arm- the case weighs 70lbs and has two wheels, so I end up shouldering most of the weight.
At the TGV terminal. Case is resting against a post.
The bigass case on a local train. Nowhere to put it, so I put it in the entryway and stayed nearby for the hourlong ride.
Got the peer-to-peer rental car, got my big bike case in the back. Whee!
Case.
Opened case. You can see how much "junk" is packed in there.
Pull out the wheels. They hide below the bike- a bit like a layer cake.
Bike is mounted on a repair stand. No wheels, pedals, seat. I've attached the bars.
It's almost assembled! I turned it around so I could access the deraillers.
Looking down through the village.
Another view from the village. We're up on the side of a mountain.
Waterfall on a mountainside.
Looking south from the La Grenoniere climb. Roughly speaking, the Alpe d'Huez climb is on the far mountain.
Looking up to Col d'Ordon. The road is visible; the last visible village is where I'm staying.
Panorama from the La Grenoniere view.
Rif Garcin waterfall from the La Grenoniere climb.
Off for a checkout ride! This is the chalet I'm staying at- King Of The Mountains. It's actually in an old schoolhouse.
