Ceramic sculpture representing Mictlantecuhtli, god of death. Half-gaunt, in a position of attack with claws and curly hair (would have been placed in perforations on the head). Liver hangs under the thorax because due to Aztec belief, the liver was related to the underworld where Mictlantecuhtli resided.
